Description of duties SPIE seeks an Event Manager who will lead event teams that plan, manage & implement SPIE technical meetings from 100 to 20,000 attendees. Candidate will work effectively with staff & volunteers from diverse cultures to ensure annual improvements to all meeting elements are implemented to the highest standard, including conference topics, courses, exhibitions, marketing, social events, and workshops. Compensation includes: Competitive wage, annual discretionary bonus, defined contribution retirement plan with additional company match and paid-time-off plan beginning at 31 days per year. Education & Experience Requirements 4-year degree or equivalent, relevant experience required. MA or MS degree preferred. 7 years professional experience in a meeting planner role or experience in a directly related industry is required. Strong organizational, communication & leadership skills imperative; calm demeanor & ability to problem solve in a dynamic environment. Previous project management experience required. Non-profit or event management experience preferred. Basic understanding of the technical topics, technologies, and communities SPIE serves is a plus. May include international venues; language skills a plus.
