Job Description

The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), housed strategically within the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology aspires for 'growth and excellence' in the field of cybersecurity. With this goal, the college invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in cybersecurity at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2020. All applicants with a strong background in all areas of cybersecurity will be considered; however, special emphasis will be given to candidates with expertise in malware analysis, software security, systems security, applied cryptography, and privacy assurance.

Responsibilities include designing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, publishing in highly ranked journals and conference proceedings, establishing an externally funded research program, assisting the program for ABET accreditation and/or NSA designation, supervising student research and capstone projects, advising students, and serving on school, college and university level committees.

The successful candidate will enhance the current expertise in the school, which includes cyber-physical systems, network security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data analytics, game design, athlete physiology.  We take great pride in our educational values and aim to educate next generation cybersecurity specialists, computer scientists and engineers. We put an emphasis on closely collaborating with departments throughout the university and with high-tech companies and organizations within Fairfield County, CT, which is part of the New York City metropolitan area. Our faculty takes advantage of our strategic location, and our suburban setting in maintaining close ties with other institutions of research and teaching in the area. Our programs and facilities offer unprecedented opportunities for applied research and implementation in computer science and engineering. Our state-of-the-art facilities include a unique cybersecurity lab with a security operations center (SOC), an 11,000 sq. ft. Makerspace, a multi-million-dollar artificial intelligence lab, a fintech laboratory, and a motion capture lab.


A Ph.D. degree in cybersecurity or a closely related discipline, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and an active program of research.  Exceptionally well-qualified Ph.D. students with ABD status and a definite timeline to dissertation completion, will be considered. Experience in curriculum design and development and active learning approaches is preferred.
